The Manager, Marketing & Public Relations, uses his/her marketing knowledge to build the association’s brand and his/her creative talents to design promotional campaigns. This person uses his/her judgment to create public relations opportunities/media relations and oversee the IWLA website.
Marketing and Public Relations Activities
Sets guidelines for content and updates/maintains information on IWLA website. Serves as the main contact for all inquiries that come through the website and the general mailbox.
Works independently to gather information, write and distribute the association’s weekly e-newsletter.
Writes press releases and creates distribution strategies for the most impact.
Identifies media outlets to target.
Writes and oversees production of marketing material, communications and online communications for the IWLA Convention & Expo, educational offerings, chapters and councils and other IWLA programs.
Serves as point of contact for the association’s branding campaigns.
Works independently with marketing, branding, printing and other vendors.
Serves as headquarters’ representative on assigned IWLA volunteer committees.
Serves as IWLA point person for and works independently with industry publications.
Edits material produced by volunteers and other staff members.
Creates an annual marketing calendar and keeps it on track.
Prepares and tracks production schedules for all marketing and public relations needed for IWLA events.
Helps with meeting planning activities as needed and may serve as onsite manpower for IWLA events and tradeshows.
Oversees all e-mail marketing blasts and develops targeted marketing lists.
Fulfills sponsorships, advertising and other promotional activities related to events and communications.
Responsible for all event signage.
Creates the IWLA Membership Directory.
Edits and assists with the production of the IWLA digital magazine.
Responsible for IWLA’s social media interactions and presence.
Responsible for KPIs and SEO, and metrics reporting for the IWLA website.
Manages the IWLA blog and the online content strategy.
Creates templates for the presentation slides, ads, and other promotional/educational material.
Seeks out new opportunities to enhance the membership experience and market to new members.
Edits internal documents as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Ability to perform the essential functions of this position.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communication, English or relevant field of specialized study.
Five years as a marketing, public relations or communications professional.
Flexible, service-oriented, creative, able to balance multiple priorities and deadlines,
Team player, excited about job, collaborative spirit.
Self-starter with ability to work independently,
Exercises discretion when working with c-level association volunteers.
Maintains attention to detail.
Takes ownership in job and puts in time needed to meet deadlines.
Possesses excellent grammar, punctuation, proofreading and reference-checking skills.
Graphic design skills are a plus.
Experience with events apps is a plus.
Possesses advanced command of AP style.
Has proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML.
Understands and uses association management systems.
Uses social media platforms and email marketing tools creatively.
Has excellent written and oral communication skills.
Has strong project management skills.
Meeting planning and trade association experience a plus.
May be required to lift up to 25 pounds and carry it for up to 10 yards as part of packing materials for events, moving supplies to and from the storage locker and the supply center.
