Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Marketing Manager is responsible for marketing project management, media planning, strategy development, and event planning and coordination. This position is charged with developing, managing, and coordinating strategic marketing projects to build awareness, generate inquiries, and engage prospective students to promote high-quality, flexible educational opportunities for working professionals.Manage day-to-day project details, for advertising, media buys, content updates, and collaborations with Program Directors and the Director of Continuing Education, from strategic inception to final execution.
The selected applicant will possess exceptional project management skills and a talent for both seeing the big picture and determining the operational needs and individual tasks needed for successful execution of marketing projects.
Serve as primary contact for all internal requests for marketing; coordinate all project activities including production, testing, and optimization; set expectations and timelines; keep stakeholders informed about progress; and ensure that all marketing activities stay within budgets.
Evaluate and assess new marketing projects based upon size, complexity, and time frame to determine availability of staff and budget resources.
Manage the coordination of multiple projects through approved external marketing, creative, and research consultants.
Provide strategic consultation and recommendations related to marketing to internal program staff and external academic and administrative partners.
Nurture and expand relationships with internal program staff (including Distance Education and Continuing Education) and external academic and administrative partners, sharing information and results, and finding opportunities to improve marketing plans and projects
Schedule, lead, and follow up on brainstorming and strategic planning sessions with Continuing Education Program Staff.Create customized brand marketing plans to creatively and cost-effectively reach target markets and expand brand awareness within established budgets, with a focus on digital marketing and inbound marketing.
Utilize customer research, current market conditions, competitor information, and advertising results reports to develop and continually optimize marketing plans to generate maximum number of qualified leads and best return on investment.
Provide recommendations to the Director of Continuing Education and Program Directors on potential markets and new opportunities for program and brand marketing plans.
Negotiate rates and recommend purchases of online, print, and broadcast advertising, including obtaining contract signatures and tracking invoices and payments for all marketing purchases.
Recommend mid-year budget adjustments and annual budgets based on outcomes (web visits, inquiries) resulting from previous marketing spends.
Handle all sales inquiries from external vendors.
Participate in brainstorming and strategy development sessions with the Director Continuing Education, Program Directors and Digital Marketing & Web Communications Manager to improve conversion rates on advertising; develop creative marketing and outreach events and activities, including social media engagement; and improve marketing plan development and other internal processes.
Share relevant statistics and insights from articles, webinars, etc. with department and stakeholders.
Monitor industry best practices to keep up with trends and introduce new ideas for continuous improvement and growth, including conference activity and other professional development opportunities.
Coordinate all web activity with the Digital Marketing & Web Communications Manager and the Information Services Manager.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Contributing: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in a closely related field that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Journey: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in a closely related field and two years of experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Advanced: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in a closely related field and at least three years of experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed in the area of assignment.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:Master's degree from a regionally accredited university in Marketing, Communications, Business, Management, or closely related field;
Experience developing marketing and media plans and purchasing advertising in higher education, nonprofit or other public sector settings.
Experience marketing to adult and/or nontraditional student audiences and understanding of student lead generation process.
Proficiency in content creation, graphic design, and multimedia arts tools.
